Luckily, a laundry expert from Persil has revealed the one ingredient you need to add to your laundry detergent to eliminate damp smells.

The expert told the Express that getting rid of damp smells on clothes is “simple”.

First, wash the garment with a pod or two of laundry detergent or a scoop of powder, ideally ones that target odors.

In addition to your usual detergent, laundry experts reveal that you should add a cup of white vinegar to the drum of your washing machine.

They explained, “Vinegar is a disinfectant that helps eliminate odors.”

“Also, you can add fabric softener, but it should be a ‘heavy’ version to help target odors and add a lovely scent to clothes.”
